Cancer Care Basics for Alberta O-PREP
This course is offered by the Oncology Practice Readiness Education Program (O-PREP) in collaboration with the de Souza Institute and is being offered free of charge to all Alberta Health Services staff.
If you will be starting orientation with Cancer Care Alberta within the next month, aspects of this course will be covered in your orientation. Please wait to have an O-PREP account created for you.
Cancer Care Basics is a series of 22 online learning modules that target the learning needs of:
- 'Non-oncology' health care professionals, or
- Oncology professionals who have a desire to learn about, or refresh foundational knowledge in specific areas.
Attention Covenant Health Employees: You will need to register for Cancer Care Basics using an AHS email. If you do not have an AHS email address, please request one using the AHS IT Service Portal at https://insite.albertahealthservices.ca/6562.asp

- Fill in form and under description indicate you would like an AHS email
A few things to note about the Cancer Care Basics series:
- The modules are self-contained and can be taken in any order.
- The average time to complete each module is 45-60 minutes; these can be paused and resumed at any time.
- The modules are self-directed. There is no educator support provided.
- Each module can be used as 1 learning hour for professional continuing education and competencies.
To enroll in the course you will first need to:
- Create an O-PREP account. Please create your account by submitting the form below.
- Verify your email address by clicking on the link sent to your AHS email.
- Once you have verified your email address, you will receive a second email with a link to access the Cancer Care Basics course on the de Souza Institute eLearning Centre. Please bookmark this link, or save it in your favourites as you will need it to access the course.
