Nurse education in appropriate assessment and maintenance of Vascular Access is one of the key elements in ensuring optimal vascular access for patients. The Vascular Access Education Program has been designed to provide nurses with ongoing education in VA creation, maturation, and cannulation.

The Vascular Access Education Program was created by the Ontario Renal Network, a work unit within Cancer Care Ontario, in collaboration with the ORN Cannulation Working Group to better inform providers about the assessment and care of hemodialysis vascular accesses.
