This course highlights the care of multiple myeloma, lymphoma, and leukemia, providing comprehensive information about incidence, pathophysiology, and risk factors for developing these hematological malignancies. Diagnosis, treatment, and follow up care is discussed in detail and provide learners with essential knowledge for the care of patients with hematological malignancies.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the normal structure and function of the immune system, and normal hematopoiesis.
- Identify the etiology, epidemiology, risk factors, and pathophysiology of multiple myeloma, lymphoma, and leukemia.
- Outline the diagnosis and staging for multiple myeloma, lymphoma and leukemia.
- Describe the current management and treatment modalities for multiple myeloma, lymphoma and leukemia.
- Describe the nursing role and considerations for caring for patients with multiple myeloma, lymphoma and leukemia.
- Teach patients (and their families/caregivers) self-management strategies for living with multiple myeloma, lymphoma and leukemia.
Course Syllabus
There are 14 modules in the course and 3 cases quizzes. The quizzes consist of a case study for each disease site (multiple myeloma, lymphoma, leukemia) where you will apply your knowledge to the care of three individual patients; one per disease site.
The quizzes are open-book, and a passing grade is 75% on each quiz is required to pass this course. Two attempts per quiz are provided.
Although you can complete the various components of the course at your own pace, the course must be completed within 8 weeks from the time you register for the course.
